Novak Djokovic continues to push for that elusive 25th Grand Slam title, with many arguing that doing so would cement his status as the greatest of all time.
However, whilst all the attention is naturally following the 39-year-old, there is little said about the woman whose record he is so close to breaking.
After all, the Serbian still remains tied with Margaret Court on 24 major titles.
Little is said about the Australian, who dominated women’s tennis between 1960 and 1977.
Who will win the 2026 Australian Open?
She has now re-emerged to speak about Novak Djokovic’s chase to overtake her, and predicted whether he has what it takes.
Margaret Court is confident her record will stand
Speaking to The Telegraph, Court was keen to set the record straight on various topics that have consumed the narrative around her in recent years.
However, amidst all the political turmoil remains her illustrious Grand Slam record, which Djokovic still cannot overcome.

With the emergence of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz over the last two years, his task only seems to be getting tougher too.
Asked about the possibility of Djokovic overtaking her, Court was magnanimous in her assessment: “The 24, I won’t be surprised if it’s beaten.”
However, she was indignant about another of her records, insisting nobody would beat her record of 64 total Grand Slam titles across singles and doubles disciplines.
Court claimed: “But the 64, I don’t think it ever will be. Whatever tennis does, it can never take away what I’ve done.”
Novak Djokovic could break one of her Grand Slam records in 2026
Whilst it seems unlikely as Alcaraz and Sinner only increase in stature, it would be unwise to write off Djokovic heading into 2026.
After all, it will only take one draw to open up for him to take his opportunity.
Across the last year, he made it to the semi-finals of all four majors, highlighting his continued presence at the business end of these events.
Djokovic may have tied the Grand Slam record alongside Court, but there always remains a chance that he could snag one final title while he remains fit and motivated on tour.
Who is the greatest male tennis player of all time?
The way in which Djokovic is acting in the off-season should only increase confidence in that possibility becoming a reality.
