Lorenzo Musetti has been asked to pick between the world number one and his compatriot.

Musetti has a bond with Jannik Sinner, having played alongside his fellow Italian in the Davis Cup on multiple occasions.

Although they are not from the same country, Musetti has also been full of praise for Carlos Alcaraz as well in recent times.

As Musetti looks to close the gap on Alcaraz and Sinner, he has now revealed who he thinks is actually the better player of the two.

Lorenzo Musetti says who he thinks is better out of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz

After somewhat surprisingly being named as the Italian Athlete of the Year by Italian media outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, Musetti appeared at the awards night to receive the honour.

During his appearance at the Gazzetta Sports awards in Milan, Musetti also answered some questions about his fellow players.

Who is your favorite ATP player right now?

This included Musetti naming Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard as the current ATP player with the best serve.

However, the majority of the rest of his answers concerned either Alcaraz or Sinner when asked about other areas of players’ games.

Musetti said Alcaraz had both the best forehand and volley, while picking Sinner as the best backhand and return.

After giving them both two shots each, Musetti had to pick who he thinks is currently the best player on the ATP Tour, to which he stayed loyal to his fellow Italian and went with Sinner, despite Alcaraz being the world number one right now.

In what has been the best season of his career so far, with Musetti ending 2025 as the world number eight, he has still struggled to compete with Alcaraz and Sinner.

Musetti has won just one of his 11 combined meetings against the top two ranked players on the ATP Tour right now, but he has not been able to inflict much damage on them since his victory over Alcaraz three years ago.

Despite being from the same country, Musetti has only played Sinner three times, with their most recent meeting taking place at the US Open this year.

However, Musetti has played Alcaraz four times this year, including the final of the Monte Carlo Masters and the semifinal of the French Open.

Musetti will be hoping to improve his head-to-head against Alcaraz and Sinner next year, as he begins the 2026 season in Hong Kong.
