Lois Boisson has continued her dream run at the French Open, where the home favourite has secured a semi-final spot.

Boisson occupies 361st place in the WTA rankings, but is into the last four at Roland Garros after beating Mirra Andreeva.

Andreeva was the sixth seed at the French Open, but suffered a shock 7-6(8-6), 6-3 defeat to the French wildcard.

It represents her second consecutive top 10 win of the clay-court Grand Slam after she knocked out third seed Jessica Pegula in the fourth round.

Another huge test awaits the 22-year-old, with Coco Gauff her French Open semi-final opponent on Thursday.

Pegula loved the atmosphere against Boisson despite losing to the home player, with the latter having now shared her verdict on the fans from her victory over Andreeva.

“It was unbelievable,” she said on Court Philippe-Chatrier after the match. “It was amazing to feel supported like this. There are no words to describe that feeling.”

And discussing the action itself, Boisson commented: “I think I ran a bit too much because I was so tense.

“It was difficult to hit the ball from the racket. I fought hard and at the beginning of the second set I was really tired but I managed to recover.”

A truly remarkable story is unfolding with Boisson, who was projected to receive a wildcard at the 2024 French Open.

But an ACL injury ruled her out of the tournament and indeed kept the Frenchwoman out of action for nine months.

But she is well and truly back on the biggest stage possible, and is grateful to have had the right people at her side to help her recover.

Speaking of the injury, the 22-year-old said: “I think whatever the situation last year and those difficult moments that we went through, it’s unbelievable to come from there but it’s also thanks to my team who supported me and thanks to all of us, really.”

She does, however, have no time at all to celebrate her latest triumph on home soil, which she achieved after two hours and eight minutes.

WTA number two Gauff represents a huge challenge, with the American having just knocked out Australian Open champion Madison Keys.
