Czech President Petr Pavel has reached out to both Linda Noskova and Karolina Muchova after their thrilling Wimbledon final.
In an all-Czech final at the All England Club, Noskova battled past Muchova after two hours and 28 minutes.
She won 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 on Centre Court to claim her maiden Grand Slam title, as well as denying her compatriot her first.
But both Noskova and Muchova have now received special invites from Pavel following their epic Wimbledon encounter.

Posting on X, the Czech President wrote: “Huge congratulations to Linda Noskova!
“This year’s Wimbledon was a fantastic celebration of Czech tennis.
“Rarely does one watch a final where, from the first to the last exchange, one can equally and sincerely cheer for both players.
“Karolina, Linda, thank you for the perfect representation of the Czech Republic.
“I bow before you both.
“Once you’ve finished celebrating, I’d be delighted to welcome you to the Castle.”
It’s a lovely touch from Pavel, who like everyone else was left delighted by the level that the two players brought to the final.
Of course, there could only be one winner, and it was Noskova who ultimately fought her way to the prestigious trophy.

It was a superb tournament for both WTA stars, who have helped continue a stunning Czech trend at Wimbledon.
Remarkably, three of the last four women’s singles champions are Czech, with Noskova emulating Marketa Vondrousova and Barbora Krejcikova in 2023 and 2024 respectively.

The nation can be hugely proud of that achievement, although it is certainly nothing new, with the likes of Czech icon Petra Kvitova having won the tournament twice during her career.
Noskova will now certainly enjoy her celebrations and really take in what she has just achieved, while Muchova will undoubtedly be keen to get back to work and get back to winning ways.
