Leylah Fernandez has officially brought an end to her 2025 WTA Tour season, in which she clinched two titles.

Fernandez is now a five-time WTA champion, having emerged victorious in Osaka and Washington DC this season.

Having once climbed to 13th in the world rankings, the 2021 US Open runner-up is currently ranked 22nd.

Fernandez most recently took on the Hong Kong Open, where she reached the semifinals before losing to Victoria Mboko.

Mboko won the Hong Kong Open after knocking out her fellow Canadian, defeating Cristina Bucsa to claim her second WTA title.

The top eight players on the WTA Tour are currently in Riyadh for the WTA Finals, but Fernandez is now on her way home following her trip to Hong Kong.

She posted on Instagram: “7 seconds in my life. Headed home after a busy year on the road. My life as a pro athlete is crazy but I absolutely love it.

“Traveling around, sightseeing, the best fans, good food, family time, lots of laughs, hard work, tennis and more tennis! Looking back I am so grateful for it all.”

A rankings improvement may be on her agenda along with more titles next time out, although she may prioritise a stronger Grand Slam season.

Fernandez reached the third rounds of the Australian Open and US Open, but fell in the first and second rounds of the French Open and Wimbledon respectively.

Such finishes are a far cry from her stunning run in New York in 2021, when she lost the US Open final to Emma Raducanu.

Raducanu and Fernandez have had contrasting success since that meeting, with the former’s win remarkably representing her only career WTA title.
