Victoria Mboko reacts on Instagram after winning her second WTA title at the Hong Kong Open

Victoria Mboko has returned to winning ways on the WTA Tour after triumphing at the Hong Kong Open.

Mboko is now a two-time WTA champion, having claimed her first title in stunning fashion at Montreal earlier this year.

The 19-year-old defeated former world number one Naomi Osaka to clinch the trophy on home soil, and has just beaten Cristina Bucsa to win in Hong Kong.

Mboko won their final 7-5, 6-7(9-11), 6-2, and in the process has climbed to a career-high ranking of 18th.

The Canadian has now taken to social media to celebrate the success, with Mboko writing on Instagram: “Title Number two. Just a little sweet ending to the season. Thank you to everyone who made this special.”

She has received plenty of support since her update, with WTA star Mirra Andreeva reacting with several heart eye emojis.

Her fellow Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski meanwhile wrote “Oui!” as American ace Sloane Stephens commented “Go Vicky!”

Victoria Mboko wins record-breaking Hong Kong Open final

Mboko endured a very tricky time immediately after winning the Montreal Open, with the teenager suffering four successive defeats.

She managed to bounce back with a quarterfinal run in Tokyo, before going all the way in Hong Kong despite a tricky draw.

Mboko faced fellow rising star Alexandra Eala and former US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez, but managed to battle past both opponents.

But arguably the toughest test of all arrived against Bucsa, with Mboko winning their match after two hours and 49 minutes, the longest tour-level final of 2025.

The 19-year-old now boasts 60 wins and 14 losses in 2025, with almost $1.5million earned in prize money.

She’s clearly a popular figure on the WTA Tour, on which she started the season ranked all the way down in 333rd.
