Alex de Minaur came up short in his bid to reach the Australian Open semifinals…

In straight sets, De Minaur lost to Carlos Alcaraz, 5-7, 2-6, 1-6, on Rod Laver Arena.

The Australian number one made a strong start, but couldn’t keep up with the Spaniard.

Will Alex de Minaur ever reach a Grand Slam semifinal?

De Minaur was understandably disappointed with the result, but may well have been cheered up when he checked social media.

His fiancée, WTA star Katie Boulter, posted a message on her Instagram story.

Katie Boulter says she is beyond ‘proud’ of Alex de Minaur

“Proud isn’t a strong enough word,” said Boulter.

The Brit was in attendance for some of De Minaur’s earlier matches down under.

Following his win over Frances Tiafoe in round three, Jim Courier asked De Minaur whether he was involved in the wedding planning with Boulter.

“Are you doubting me, Jim [Courier]?” he asked.

“This is a 50-50 relationship, right!

“The fact that we’re both tennis players and we’ve both got quite a busy schedule, we are doing as much as we can together, and I’ve been involved so far with some of the decisions.

“I’m sure when it comes to the details like napkins, flowers, and decorations, that’s not my forte, I’ll leave that to Katie [Boulter].”

Courier joked with De Minaur that he was about to become a ‘49% shareholder of a really great company’.

After De Minaur beat Bublik in the fourth round, Courier apologised to the Aussie and asked if his comments had gotten him into trouble with Boulter.

“It’s all chilled, we’ve got a great relationship!” said De Minaur.

“She trusts me and trusts my judgement, at least, that’s what I believe.

“She’s actually currently on a flight to London; she was telling me that she was able to watch the match on the plane, so she’s great.

“We’re good, mate, sweet, don’t worry!”

Things may not have gone 100% to plan for De Minaur and Boulter down under, but there’s still plenty for them to look forward to…

What’s next for Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter?

Off court, the couple will continue chipping away at the wedding planning, but where will fans see the pair compete next?

Fresh off his run to the Australian Open quarterfinals, De Minaur will gear up for the Rotterdam Open in the Netherlands.

He is a two-time runner-up in Rotterdam, losing to Alcaraz in 2025 and Jannik Sinner in 2024.

Boulter, on the other hand, will head over to the Czech Republic for the Ostrava Open.

The WTA 250 event, played on indoor hard courts, will be a fantastic opportunity for the Brit to begin her climb back up the rankings.

Having once been ranked as high as 23rd, Boulter is now the world number 119.

She’ll then play two events in Oeiras, Portugal.

Only time will tell where De Minaur and Boulter will be ranked at the end of the season, but it will certainly be something to keep an eye on.
