Carlos Alcaraz is into another Australian Open semifinal after knocking out home favorite Alex de Minaur.
De Minaur was excited to play Alcaraz, but the world number one quickly showed his class with a 7-5, 6-2, 6-1 win.
ATP number one Alcaraz needed two hours and 15 minutes to complete the victory over De Minaur at Rod Laver Arena.
The Spaniard is now into the last four at the Australian Open, and takes on Alexander Zverev for a place in the final.

Carlos Alcaraz says it’s ‘impossible’ to hit the ball hard every time vs Alex de Minaur
Zverev praised Learner Tien after defeating the American in their quarterfinal, with Alcaraz now doing the same with De Minaur.
He said on court: “I am just really happy with the way I am playing every match since the first round until now, I think my level is increasing every match which I’m really happy about.
“After the first match they told me be patient, the level you want to play is going to come, and I think today I felt really comfortable playing great tennis which I’m really proud about and I’m really happy to get into the semifinals.”
And discussing his opponent, Alcaraz said: “It’s really difficult. I started the match really, really well, hitting the ball really well.
“I think in those two games I made seven or eight winners, so it was a great level. But Alex made it so you are always in a rush all the time.
“You want to hit the ball as hard as you can every time which is impossible against him. I think from 3-0 to 3-3, 4-4, I wanted everything in a rush and I took a moment and a break.
“Mentally I was there and I was more patient from 4-4 until the end of the match which was great for me. But playing against someone like Alex is always really difficult.
“You have to be really focused on every ball. You have to win the point three or four times almost, so that means it’s difficult to play against Alex.”

Alex de Minaur continues miserable record against Carlos Alcaraz
De Minaur certainly put up a good fight at times against Alcaraz, who was always the favorite to come out on top.
That was despite the support the Australian received from the crowd in Melbourne, where he was the last home player remaining in the singles format.
| Year | Winner | Tournament | Round | Surface | Score |
| 2026 | Carlos Alcaraz | Australian Open | Quarterfinal | Outdoor Hard | 75 62 61 |
| 2025 | Carlos Alcaraz | Nitto ATP Finals | Round Robin | Indoor Hard | 76(5) 62 |
| 2025 | Carlos Alcaraz | Barcelona | Quarterfinal | Outdoor Clay | 75 63 |
| 2025 | Carlos Alcaraz | Rotterdam | Final | Indoor Hard | 64 36 62 |
| 2023 | Carlos Alcaraz | Queen’s | Final | Outdoor Grass | 64 64 |
| 2022 | Carlos Alcaraz | Barcelona | Semifinal | Outdoor Clay | 67(4) 76(4) 64 |
The loss means De Minaur now has a miserable 0-6 head-to-head record with Alcaraz, winning just two sets across their entire rivalry.
His semifinal opponent Zverev has a much better record in that regard, with their head-to-head fittingly standing at 6-6 ahead of their meeting in Melbourne.
