Judy Murray posted a brief yet powerful response to the news that her sons are set to play doubles at Wimbledon.

On Thursday it was confirmed that Andy and Jamie Murray will team up at the grass court Grand Slam should the double Olympic champion recover from back surgery in time.

This will be the first time that the sibling duo will play doubles together at Wimbledon, a tournament where they have enjoyed plenty of success over the years.

The news of their partnership left their mother feeling overjoyed after watching their success at the event unfold in front of her very eyes.

The Murray brothers were handed a late wildcard to enter the men’s doubles competition at Wimbledon, who described them as a “very special pairing.”

Following the announcement, Judy, 64, took to social media platform X and replied to the Grand Slam’s tweet with a love heart and Scotland flag emojis, showcasing how proud she is of her sons.

With Murray’s glittering singles career seemingly coming to an end, there may be just one more appearance at SW19 left for former World number one.

Therefore, 2024 may mark the only time he plays alongside Jamie at Wimbledon, which would be part of a fitting farewell for the 2013 and 2016 champion.

Have Andy and Jamie Murray played doubles together before?

Though the Murray brothers never played one another at Wimbledon, they have played together elsewhere.

In 2015 they played doubles in the Davis Cup when they helped Great Britain win the prestigious team event for the first time since 1936.

Most recently, the pair took on English duo Dan Evans and Neal Skupski at the 2022 Battle of Brits event.

Speaking about the chance of playing alongside his younger brother earlier this month, Jamie told reporters: “It would obviously be really cool to do it.

“It’s something we probably wanted to do at some point in our career and maybe now is the only opportunity to do it. It’s a case of now or never.”
