Everyone whether it be tennis players, fans, pundits or former players have an opinion over which male player is considered the greatest ever.

Now, Juan Martin del Potro has had his say on who the male GOAT is.

Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are always considered the big three and the only players ever really to make up the discussion.

Players from yesteryear such as Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi and Boris Becker can perhaps feel a bit aggrieved.

Further back, the likes of Bjorn Borg, John McEnroe and Jimmy Connors also wouldn’t mind being in the mix.

What Federer, Nadal and Djokovic have done in terms of success and longevity, however, is pretty unprecedented and it makes sense that those three often make up the GOAT discussion.

Now, Juan Martin del Potro has had his say regarding the great debate and made his decision.

Juan Martin del Potro picks the best player out of Federer, Nadal or Djokovic

The Argentine player was taking part in a winner-stops-on type of quiz on social media.

He was first asked to choose between Nadal and Marat Safin and he chose the Spanish star.

Next, it was a toss-up between Nadal and Federer with Del Potro going for the Swiss player out of the two.

Then it was Federer or Djokovic and after some deliberation, he chose Djokovic before making out a heart with his hand.

He implied that Djokovic was his pick for greatest ever ahead of Federer and then Nadal coming in third.

Djokovic has to silence his critics in 2025

In terms of the number of Grand Slams, there is no doubt that the 24 won by Djokovic makes him the greatest male player of all time.

However, he’d dearly love to take that tally to 25 and after failing to win one in 2025 some cynics will think his days in the winner’s circle are numbered.

At 37, it’s going to take something special for him to dominate the sport these days, especially with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner the new kids on the block.

Del Potro’s greatest success came when he won the US Open in 2009 and he can look back on a career that saw him reach number three in the world.

He’s in doubt who should get the GOAT tag but naturally, the debate will rumble on forever more…
