Juan Carlos Ferrero has now made his prediction for how Carlos Alcaraz will perform in the immediate aftermath of their split.
It was just last week when these two Spanish superstars announced that they had parted ways, in a bombshell piece of news that stunned the tennis world.
After all, it left many scratching their heads as to what could possibly have caused the dissolution of such a successful relationship.
Together, they had created history, and were being backed to continue to do so as Carlos Alcaraz’s career went on.
Alas, the 22-year-old will now have to learn how to perform in Ferrero’s regular absence.

In his latest interview for Radio Nacional Española, the 45-year-old began by offering a confident prediction about how Alcaraz will perform in the coming months without his guidance.
Ferrero stated: “He won’t lose his way because I know him well and he knows what’s good for him and what isn’t. Carlos loves to compete; he loves playing in tournaments and fighting for big titles, and I don’t see him getting bored with tennis. Maybe in 10 or 12 years, but right now it’s the complete opposite. This situation isn’t ideal heading into the Australian Open, but in terms of tennis skill and talent, he’s more than capable of winning.”

Then asked about how his relationship with Alcaraz might change, his reply was one of hope: “I want our relationship to stay the same. It’s true that at first, you have to adjust to the fact that one of your close friends is staying on the team. It will take a little time, but from then on everything will be fine.”
Ferrero also predicted whether Alcaraz would hire a big-name coach to replace him, speaking to that same outlet.
What is Carlos Alcaraz’s schedule for 2026?
Given that Alcaraz has made clear his desperation to win the Australian Open in 2026, the fact that he will not play a warm-up tournament for the first Grand Slam of the year is an interesting decision.
His first foray into tennis for the new year will be at the one-point Slam, in a novelty event alongside Nick Kyrgios and Iga Swiatek.

Indian Wells and Miami should then follow, where the Spaniard will hope to retain the crowns that he has previously held.
