The French Open has arrived, with many of the world’s best ATP and WTA players in Paris for the second Grand Slam of 2025.
Jannik Sinner is the top seed on the ATP side, with the Italian having won the first Grand Slam of the season at the Australian Open.
He is playing just his second tournament upon returning from a three-month suspension, having just taken on the Italian Open.
Sinner reached the final on home soil, but lost the final of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament to Carlos Alcaraz, the Roland Garros defending champion.
Alcaraz is the second seed at the 2025 French Open, and starts his tournament against Giulio Zeppieri after the withdrawal of Kei Nishikori.

John McEnroe names his men’s French Open winner
Former player Steve Johnson thinks Alcaraz will win the French Open, with legendary figure John McEnroe now sharing his prediction.
“I would be surprised if it wasn’t one between Sinner and Alcaraz,” McEnroe told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “They are the strongest, they are way ahead of the others at the moment, they proved it in Rome.
“Theirs is the greatest rivalry you can imagine in tennis today, close to those we had in the past decades. But if I have to indicate a favourite, it is definitely Alcaraz.”
John McEnroe praises Lorenzo Musetti ahead of the French Open
Spanish star Alcaraz heads into the French Open in stunning form, not only on clay but in his overall game.
Already a four-time Grand Slam champion at the age of 22, he has three ATP titles to his name this season.

Clay court victories have arrived at the Italian Open and the Monte Carlo Masters, while he also won on the hard courts of Rotterdam.
He has just joined Sinner on 19 ATP titles, with the Italian clinching his only success of 2025 so far at the Australian Open.

But there is another Italian who has caught the eye of McEnroe, with the American icon full of praise for Lorenzo Musetti as the French Open arrives.
Musetti is a two-time tour champion, with the 23-year-old having just climbed to seventh in the world rankings, a career-high.
And a lengthy French Open stay is certainly on the cards if recent form is anything to go by, with Musetti reaching the semi-finals of the Madrid Open and Italian Open after losing the Monte Carlo final to Alcaraz.
Sharing his take on the Italian, McEnroe said: “I really like how he plays, and clay is the surface on which he expresses himself best. He is making great progress, even mentally.
“In my prediction there are Alcaraz and Sinner, because if they are doing well no one can get close to them, then I put [Novak] Djokovic as a possible variable, but behind these three the field is very open, and among those who can take advantage of any moments of difficulty of the three big names I mentioned, I would definitely put Lorenzo.”
