Joao Fonseca commented on how he is adapting to the locker room on the ATP Tour.
The 18-year-old has made a big impression in what is just his second year as a professional player.
Fonseca defeated top 10 player Andrey Rublev in his main draw Australian Open debut, and claimed his first title at Buenos Aires just a month later.
As he continues to make waves on the men’s circuit, the Brazilian will be spending more time at the biggest tournaments among the game’s best players.

Joao Fonseca has certainly made his presence felt at the beginning of the 2025 tennis season. He is one of the most talked-about players and he has a very explosive game which leaves plenty of fans in awe.
Fonseca’s fearless approach to tennis has helped him take the game by storm, as it did with Carlos Alcaraz at the same age.
The Spaniard won his first Grand Slam title at the age of 19 and became the youngest World number one in history.
In addition to his excellent play on the court, many positive things have been said about Alcaraz off of it, and now Fonseca has added to those comments.
Describing who he enjoys spending time with in the locker room, Fonseca told Tennis Channel: “It’s just incredible to see.
“Being in the locker room and seeing your idols and the people that you watched like two years ago on television, I want to be with those guys.
“I’m just enjoying every tournament, everything is new for me at this time, it’s my second year as a pro so I’m finding out how the locker room is and how everything is.
“Meeting those guys, I love Gael [Monfils] and Tiafoe, those guys are funny, and Carlos [Alcaraz] is a super nice guy. So I’m getting to know the guys a little bit more.”
Joao Fonseca wins debut match at Indian Wells Masters
Fonseca commenced his debut Indian Wells campaign against Britain’s Jacob Fearnley.
The Brazilian started well by taking the opening set, but Fearnley hit back and stormed through set two to level the match.
He was down a break in the second set, but Fonseca battled back to claim a 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 victory to set up a second round with another British player, Jack Draper.
“It was difficult to play here… Windy. I think it’s the biggest court I’ve played on so far. I was very excited with the way I played today,” Fonseca said.
“I’m happy with how I fought. A break down in the third, things weren’t very good for me. I kept confusing my game. I’m very happy.”
