Novak Djokovic is on the back of another year on the ATP Tour without winning a Grand Slam title.
Djokovic withdrew from the ATP Finals after he ended his year following a win over Lorenzo Musetti in the final of the Athens Open.
Steve Johnson guessed whether Djokovic would play at the ATP Finals, and it has not proved a major shock to see him withdraw.
That’s because Djokovic is leaving no stone unturned to try and win another Grand Slam, and the fact that he’s resting ahead of 2026 isn’t a massive shock.
With Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz dominating the majors over the last two years, Djokovic is facing a real fight, and now a legend of the game has fired a warning to him.

What Jimmy Connors has said about Novak Djokovic
Connors has fired a warning to Djokovic as he chases another Grand Slam title at 38-years-old.
The challenge for the legendary figure isn’t getting any easier, and Djokovic has his doubters when it comes to winning another Grand Slam.
Connors believes Djokovic now has a bit of a dilemma when it comes to choosing which events to play in and being well prepared for the Grand Slam events.
He said on the Advantage Connors podcast: “My idea was to get ready to play Wimbledon or the US Open, mostly the US Open. That was my goal when I got older. When I was 36 or 37. I was out for the year when I was 38. But that was my goal to be able to play the kind of tennis I wanted to and make a statement at the US Open.
“That was my favourite tournament and where I won my 100th title, so it was pretty important to me.
“So if you are not careful, especially when you get older, and Djoker is 38. You can wear yourself out, easily, if you push yourself and try to do too much.
“But when he just parachuted in to play the US Open after Wimbledon, that’s tough to do too, and not have match play, so finding that happy medium on how to practice and compete is something that is very necessary when you get to be that age.”

Djokovic might have his best Grand Slam chance at the Australian Open
Djokovic might have made a good decision to skip the ATP Finals, given that Sinner and Alcaraz are both giving their all to try and win the event.
The legendary figure is clearly looking for every little advantage that he can get over the game’s two dominant forces, and skipping the event might help him.
Djokovic has won the Australian Open 10 times, and given that he comes so soon in the year, the Serbian should be at peak fitness levels.
Djokovic was brilliant in beating Alcaraz in the quarterfinal of last year’s event, and as a result, this latest step that he’s taken could enhance his chances of claiming Grand Slam title number 25.
