Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff have previously combined in women’s doubles, with the former now shedding light on a potential reunion.
Pegula reached a fifth successive Miami Open last 16 match earlier this week, in which she beat Marta Kostyuk to reach the quarter-finals.
Emma Raducanu now awaits fourth seed Pegula, who witnessed her old doubles partner Gauff fall in the round of 16 in Miami.
Gauff is eyeing another Grand Slam title, but the 2023 US Open champion lost her latest clash at the Miami Open to Magda Linette.
She wasn’t the only American woman to fall in the last 16, however, with Amanda Anisimova, Ashlyn Krueger and defending champion Danielle Collins all exiting.

All home hopes now rest on Pegula, who is solely focused on singles after retiring from her doubles venture with Krueger.
She was, however, tasked with discussing doubles in her latest press conference, with Pegula having been asked if she would be up for playing that format with Gauff in Rome after the latter said she wanted to in a bid to have more fun.
“What with me?” responded WTA number four Pegula, with her interviewer answering: “She didn’t mention names.”
Pegula then replied: “I don’t know. I think maybe, we will see. I haven’t talked to her about it. I love playing doubles, it just gets really hard with the schedule sometimes.
“But in Europe with the long two-week events I think it’s actually a smart thing to play. I don’t know if she is asking to play with me, but we will see.”

Pegula was into the Miami Open last 16 with her latest partner Krueger before retiring, but a recovery has been made for her singles venture.
Her focus is firmly set on home success, but an intriguing reunion between Pegula and Gauff has now been put on the table for Rome.
Another WTA 1000 event, the capital plays host to the Italian Open in early May, where clay courts take centre stage.
That is the same surface on which Pegula and Gauff played doubles together at the 2024 Paris Olympics, one of their many such ventures in recent years.
In France, the American pairing were the top seeds, winning their opener against Australian duo Ellen Perez and Daria Saville.
But elimination quickly followed, with Czech pairing Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova knocking out the US stars in a tiebreaker.
