Aryna Sabalenka finally secured a Grand Slam title in 2025 after overcoming home hope Amanda Anisimova in the US Open final.

In straight sets at Arthur Ashe Stadium, Sabalenka defeated Anisimova 6-3, 7-6, becoming the third player in the Open Era to win all of her first four major crowns on hard court.

The Belarusian is also the first woman to go back-to-back at Flushing Meadows since Serena Williams in 2014.

Sabalenka, who suffered near misses in the finals of both the Australian Open and Roland Garros, delivered an incredible performance against Anisimova, who Jannik Sinner‘s coach, Darren Cahill, had high praise for after the match.

Darren Cahill reacts to the US Open women’s singles final

Reacting to the final on ESPN, Cahill said: “I was with Simona Halep. She lost her first three finals, and it makes it even more special when you finally do break through and you win your first one, and Amanda was on that journey to break through.

“She put herself into a couple of finals now. Her career is really just starting. Full credit goes to Aryna Sabalenka. She’s the number one player in the world.

“She’s put herself into a position to win a few of the majors so far this season, and she showed a lot of composure and a lot of calm today. And I think that was the difference between the two players.

“In fact, Amanda looked a little bit like Aryna did about five years ago when she was quite emotional on the court and she would learn from these experiences and she will get better.

“And she was outclassed today by a more experienced opponent in Aryna Sabalenka. Well done to Aryna.”

Aryna Sabalenka claims her 100th singles win in the US Open final

Along with the US Open title, Sabalenka has claimed the 100th singles victory of her career against Anisimova.

She is now the second player in the Open Era to reach a century of triumphs in the championship match of a Grand Slam.

The world number one follows Iga Swiatek, who achieved the feat at Wimbledon earlier this summer, when she too overcame Anisimova.

Sabalenka has now matched the major tallies of players such as Naomi Osaka and Kim Clijsters, and is one away from the likes of Maria Sharapova and Martina Hingis.
