Jannik Sinner has stormed into the semi-finals of the French Open after easing past Alexander Bublik in straight sets.

Bublik joked he ‘almost got’ Sinner right after their quarter-final encounter, which the top seed won 6-1, 7-5, 6-0.

ATP number one Sinner now meets 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals at Roland Garros.

Djokovic knows what to expect from Sinner, with the duo now set for their ninth career meeting on the ATP Tour.

The Italian star is the top seed at the French Open, with Djokovic the sixth seed at the clay court Grand Slam.

And he has drawn plenty of praise from fans ahead of that match, having taken time to sign autographs on court right after beating Bublik, along with giving a young fan his towel.

Delighted with the actions of the world number one, one fan wrote on X: “This just warmed my whole soul.”

A second commented: “This is so beautifully heartwarming,” with a third saying: “So so sweet, omg one of the reasons I love Jannik.”

Further praise arrived from other fans, who said: “So kind,” “Protect this man at all costs” and “Never a question if he’s a stand up guy or not.”

Sinner has, of course, had his criticism in recent times, but his latest actions on court speak for themselves.

Making time for supporters is undoubtedly often difficult for players, particularly after a tough match or a loss.

But Sinner really doesn’t need to be too worried about losing many matches at this moment in time, with the Italian in formidable form.

He has built up a huge following with his performances, but also for his actions off the court, with the young fan certain to remember that interaction for the rest of her life.

Sinner meanwhile will turn his immediate focus to Djokovic, who is a three-time champion at the French Open.

The pair each have four wins from their eight career meetings, and there are certain to be fireworks in their next clash.

Court Philippe-Chatrier plays host, and it will be intriguing to see which player the French fans cheer for the loudest.

Sinner has now equalled his best run at the clay court Grand Slam, which Djokovic won in 2016, 2021 and 2023.

The Serbian boasts a stunning 100 ATP titles going into the meeting, recently reaching that milestone at the Geneva Open.

And the Italian has 19 ATP titles to his name, but his 2022 success in Umag represents his only clay-court triumph.
