Jannik Sinner, fresh from his latest title triumph, is already looking ahead to his next conquest.

It has been a career-defining year already for the young superstar, who kicked off 2024 with his first Grand Slam title and has not looked back since.

Then winning in Rotterdam and Miami, his only loss of the season thus far came in the semi-finals of Indian Wells to the eventual winner.

So, to see his latest plans for the rest of the year, nothing seems too lofty given the form he is enjoying.

Jannik Sinner sets new ‘main objective’ for 2024

Although his claim would be brief, it was certainly lofty enough to draw interest too.

After all, already the 22-year-old has enjoyed deep runs in a few Grand Slams, even winning the Australian Open back in January.

However, reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon last year and the quarter-finals in the US Open in 2022, it was not since 2020 that he achieved a run of similar length at Roland-Garros.

So, that likely explains why he has made the French Open his latest priority, with the prestigious tournament just eight weeks away from getting underway.

Likely aware of the impending threat that Rafael Nadal will potentially pose on clay, that will mitigate his expectations. However, it did not stop him from saying: ‘My main objective is Roland-Garros, everything will be done with the aim of getting there in the best condition.’

This comes after one pundit backed him for further Grand Slam success too.

Jannik Sinner has enough quality to win it all

Whilst he almost certainly won’t, Sinner is playing lights-out tennis at the moment that, on any given day, would take out most if not all of the players on tour right now.

He has already brushed aside the likes of Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Alex De Minaur and Andrey Rublev in 2024 alone, and although he lost to Carlos Alcaraz he does have a history of toppling the Spaniard.

There is no one who would relish meeting the Italian in any round of any competition, and that is what makes him such a fearsome prospect for the rest of the year.

Should he maintain his current level, which is way above what anybody could have ever possibly imagined, why shouldn’t he feel confident enough to go and win it all?

After all, the clay season is a free hit for him, with few points to defend.

Then, entering Wimbledon and the US Open, these are surfaces which he will be confident of also going deep in too.

Sinner seems unstoppable at the moment, and it will really take something truly special to stop him. After Roland-Garros, which is a clear priority for him, he will have to reassess and see just how far he could go this year.
