Rennae Stubbs has been previewing the final three Grand Slams of the year already, predicting one man to enjoy success in at least two of them.

Unsurprisingly, the player in question is Jannik Sinner, who has dominated men’s tennis this year, claiming three titles already.

His form is unquestionable and his style of play borderline unstoppable. As such, the entire tennis world is starting to expect big things from him.

It is now about how he reacts to such expectations which will determine the type of career he is expected to enjoy.

Stubbs’ support, and recent comments, are only set to add to such potential scrutiny.

Rennae Stubbs predicts a big year for Jannik Sinner

Speaking on her Racquet’s Rennae Stubbs Tennis podcast, the host of whom the show is named after was full of praise for the Italian mastermind who has enjoyed an unstoppable start to 2024.

Having lost just once all year, every other tournament he has entered he has won.

Melbourne. Rotterdam. Miami. Now, he will have his sights set on adding to his already sprawling trophy cabinet with some more elite honours.

And Stubbs, who was simply stunned by the manner in which he dispatched Daniil Medvedev and Grigor Dimitrov on his way to his latest title, is predicting him to do just that.

She noted: ‘I think Sinner is the absolute favourite to win the US Open and possibly at Wimbledon.

‘I actually think the US Open [court] may be even faster than Wimbledon, because the grass is slow now and hard underneath so it bounces high.

‘But my god, Jannik Sinner, I mean he smoked Medvedev.’

Jannik Sinner overtakes Carlos Alcaraz on ATP rankings

In claiming silverware in Miami, Sinner has enjoyed another big milestone, leapfrogging Alcaraz in the ATP rankings into second place.

He is the first Italian to ever reach such lofty heights, and with few points to defend throughout the Clay Court season, Novak Djokovic will be looking over his shoulder with apprehension.

After all, conversely, the Serbian has struggled in his start to 2024 and missed both Indian Wells and the Miami Open in an effort to manage his calendar.

His age makes this a completely understandable decision, but in doing so it seems like he is almost happy to relinquish his spot atop the world rankings.

So, it is up to Sinner and Alcaraz to force the issue and topple the 36-year-old before the year is up.

On current form, it feels like the former is far more likely to achieve such a feat in the coming months, although he did recently reveal an alternative goal that he is prioritising.
