Another Grand Slam final between the world’s two best players, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, will take place on Sunday after both stars came through their semifinal clashes.
Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic to book his place in the championship match at Flushing Meadows, winning in straight sets against the Serb.
Sinner, on the other hand, emerged victorious over Felix Auger-Aliassime to continue his title defence and return to the US Open final.
The top two seeds in New York have met 14 times on the ATP Tour, with the Spaniard leading the head-to-head 9-5.
Their last meeting at a Grand Slam on hard court came in 2022, when Sinner and Alcaraz were only just beginning to make their mark on the major scene.

Jannik Sinner pinpoints a big improvement in Carlos Alcaraz’s game
Since then, both have come on leaps and bounds and continue to develop their games year on year.
Recently, Sinner has noticed a big change in Alcaraz’s game that has made him even more dominant on court.
“He has improved the serve a lot,” said the Italian in his post-match press conference. “I feel like he is serving much better with a better pace but the percentage is high all the time. It’s much more solid.
“Maybe before there were more ups and downs, but now he is very consistent. If you watch all the tournaments, he is going very far.

“So there are many, many improvements. But I always say that when you are young, one or two years can make a big difference.
“I feel the same with me. The serving has gotten better, my net game is has improved, it’s not there yet where I would love it to be.
“But we are working on it, and also the movement, the physical shape is better than back in the day. I was maybe struggling a little bit if we go three or four sets, now I feel fine.”

Sinner and Alcaraz had their first Grand Slam meeting this year in the final of Roland Garros, which saw one of the most thrilling matches in recent history.
After facing three match points, the defending champion came back to clinch the title in five sets and claim his second French Open crown.
At Wimbledon, Sinner got his revenge, beating Alcaraz in the title bout on Centre Court to snap his losing streak against him, which dated back to 2023.
Now, they will meet in their third Grand Slam final at the US Open in pursuit of adding to their growing major tallies.
