Jannik Sinner became the eighth man in history to complete the Sunshine Double on Sunday after winning the Miami Open title.

Two weeks after clinching a maiden Indian Wells crown, Sinner defeated Jiri Lehecka in the Miami final, winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.

The Italian claimed his seventh ATP Masters 1000 title, and is the first since Roger Federer in 2017 to win Indian Wells and Miami back-to-back in the same season.

Who is the better hard court player – Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner?

Sinner won both tournaments without dropping a set and has now won a record-extending 34 straight sets at Masters tournaments.

In doing so, he has just surpassed one of Pete Sampras’ all-time records on the ATP Tour.

The players with the most Masters titles without dropping a set

With his flawless triumph in Miami, Sinner has now won three ATP Masters 1000 crowns without dropping a set.

The 24-year-old didn’t put a foot wrong at the Paris Masters in 2025, the 2026 Indian Wells Open and this year’s edition of the Miami Open.

Having just overtaken Sampras, Sinner now ranks fifth all-time in Masters titles won without dropping a set, trailing only the previous generations’ ‘big four’ of Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.

Murray secured just one more than Sinner throughout his career, while Federer earned a total of seven.

Nadal won eight ATP Masters 1000 trophies without dropping a set, but Djokovic leads the all-time list with 11.

The last time the Serb managed the feat was at the Italian Open during the 2022 season.

Jannik Sinner’s points to defend during the clay season

After winning the Sunshine Double, Sinner will now turn his attention to the clay-court season, which is up next on the ATP Tour.

Sinner missed most of the clay swing last year due to his three-month ban from tennis, which saw him lose a significant amount of ranking points.

This time around, though, Sinner will have the chance to gain them all back and close in on Carlos Alcaraz at the top.

Sinner reached the final of both the Italian Open and the French Open last year, but fell to Alcaraz in both matches.
