John Isner and Jack Sock have predicted which American players they think will have the strongest Indian Wells campaign.

The ATP and WTA 1000 tournament is now underway and there have been some blistering performances and shock results.

For example top seed Alexander Zverev is already out, while Iga Swiatek won her opening match by conceding just two games.

As the weekend progresses, more players will play in their opening match at Indian Wells and the Americans will aim to impress at their home tournament.

John Isner and Jack Sock guess the US players they think will have a strong Indian Wells campaign

Players thoroughly enjoy competing in front of their home crowd on tour. This is especially the case with American players as many of them tend to raise their game when competing on home soil.

Former US tennis players John Isner and Jack Sock want to see their compatriots perform well at Indian Wells and have named those they think will have the best tournament.

“I am going to go with Tommy Paul as the American to go the furthest,” Sock told the Nothing Major podcast.

“I think he has a favourable section of the draw and I think if he makes it to a Medvedev, I don’t see why he can’t win that.

“Casper is the biggest seed in his section. And then I am going to side with Stevie, but Emma Navarro for me is going to be the last American woman standing.”

Isner added: “I am going to go with Ben Shelton and Jessie Pegula. I think if the courts are fast it’s going to suit her game very well.”

How have John Isner and Jack Sock’s predictions fared at Indian Wells so far?

Sock thinks Tommy Paul will be the last American man standing and he has started his campaign with a victory over compatriot Tristan Boyer.

On the other hand, Emma Navarro, fresh off winning the Merida Open, will commence her Indian Wells campaign against Romania’s Sorana Cristea.

Isner chose Ben Shelton and Jessica Pegula, and the latter entered the tournament following victory at Texas’ ATX Open.

Shelton is due to start his tournament against Mariano Navone, while Pegula reached the next round after beating Magda Linette 6-4, 6-2. She will play Wang Xinyu in the next round.
