Jannik Sinner is very much one of the standout players on the ATP Tour right now after returning to the summit of the ATP world rankings over the weekend.

Carlos Alcaraz stole his number one spot after beating Sinner in the US Open final in September, but, for the next week, the Italian is back on top of the pile.

Sinner will drop back to number two next week when last year’s ATP Finals points come off his total, but the rivalry with Alcaraz is certain to rumble on.

At the weekend, Sinner praised Felix Auger-Aliassime after beating him in the final of the Paris Masters, and the second set saw him win another tie-breaker this year.

With that in mind, it offered a reminder of just how effective Sinner is in tie-break situations, and it’s intriguing to look at just how he matches up to some of the game’s greats.

Jannik Sinner’s brilliant tie-break record

When it comes to the percentage of tie-breaks won this year, Sinner is top of the pops.

Sinner has taken part in 18 tie-breaks at the end of sets in 2025, with 15 being won to give him a win ratio of 83.3%.

It serves to showcase that Sinner simply doesn’t know when he is beaten in sets, and perhaps he’s done work to ensure he stays mentally strong once these situations come around.

Sinner is often praised for how professional and determined he is out on the court, and his flawless technique makes it feel impossible for some of the players to beat him.

The 24-year-old is clearly on course to smash all kinds of records when it comes to tennis, but where exactly do his tie-break stats rank among the game’s best ever.

How Jannik Sinner’s tie-break record compares to the Big Three

Djokovic is on the hunt for Grand Slam title number 25, and he will hope to complete that mission before he stops playing tennis.

His rivalry with Nadal and Federer was a thing of beauty, with tennis truly privileged to witness all three competing with each other in their prime.

Sinner will undoubtedly go a long way towards ticking off some of the records that are held by the big three, and his tie-break record is already looking pretty healthy.

Roger Federer65.2%
Novak Djokovic64.9%
Carlos Alcaraz64.5%
Jannik Sinner64.2%
Rafael Nadal61.2%

Both Sinner and Alcaraz are dominating the sport right now, and with nobody looking close to joining them, much like Djokovic did with Federer and Nadal, plenty more Grand Slam crowns could go their way next year.

Being good at tie-breakers makes Sinner and Alcaraz even stronger and the rest of the tour have a job on trying to combat the brilliance of the two players.
