Jannik Sinner is a winner once again as he continued a remarkable run of indoor form by beating Felix Auger-Aliassime.
The Italian is back on the top spot in the race to finish the season as the world number one, taking full advantage of Carlos Alcaraz being dumped out in the early stages of the Paris Masters by Cameron Norrie.
Sinner thrashed Alexander Zverev in the semifinal on Saturday, and the writing was on the wall for a Paris Masters success, given the nature of his victory.
Auger-Aliassime has been in magnificent fettle of late, and he can now head to Metz to try and gatecrash the ATP Finals, which will take place in Turin at the end of the year.

Jannik Sinner shares what Felix Auger-Aliassime did that was ‘incredible’
Despite a straight-sets defeat, Auger-Aliassime can take an awful lot from this tournament and his indoor swing in general after a solid run to the final in Paris.
He will now have some work to do in order to make the ATP Finals but nonetheless, he can look back on some memorable wins and take a lot away from the tournament.
Sinner was certainly impressed with Auger-Aliassime, and after the match, he shared what he did against him that proved very difficult to cope with.
He said in his on court interview: “It’s huge, honestly. It was such an intense final here, and we both knew what was on the line. For him, he’s in a very tough and difficult spot. From my side, I am extremely happy.
“The past couple of matches have been amazing. We have been trying to work on things and improve as a player, and seeing these kinds of results makes me incredibly happy.
“Another title this year, it has been an amazing year, no matter what comes now in Turin. I’m extremely happy, and without my team, that would not be possible.
“It’s huge. It was a very difficult match. He was serving incredibly well, especially from the first break on. I did not have many chances.
“I had a 15-40, but he served huge there, and you have to use the small chances you have. In the break, it was just a small mini break, but I was very happy with how I played there, and I was very consistent.”
Jannik Sinner serving stats in Paris Masters final
Sinner might have praised Auger-Aliassime, but the Italian was brilliant on his own serve too, which ultimately led to him winning the title.
Sinner will lose his ranking points from last year’s ATP Finals next week, and that will see Alcaraz return to the world number one spot, but a win at this year’s event could see him finish the year at the summit.
Sinner is right about Auger-Aliassime’s serve and it does appear that the Canadian player is now keen to dispel any notion that he’s a one-trick pony.
| Jannik Sinner | Paris Masters Final | Felx Auger-Aliassime |
| 6 | Aces | 6 |
| 15 | Unforced Errors | 27 |
| 6 | Net Points Won | 8 |
| 25 | Winners | 21 |
| 74 | Total Points Won | 60 |
His serve caused the new number one a world of problems at times, but on this occasion, being clinical on serve wasn’t enough to cause Sinner too much trouble.
Now, the attention for Auger-Aliassime basically turns towards trying to stay ahead of Lorenzo Musetti and ensure he qualifies for the ATP Finals in Turin later this year.
