Jannik Sinner is currently on a generational run in men’s tennis.

The Italian has not lost a match since February and has clinched four consecutive titles, all of which have come at ATP Masters 1000 events.

On Thursday, Sinner surpassed Novak Djokovic to become the player with the longest streak of match wins at Masters tournaments ever, with 32 to his name since Paris 2025.

He is now just two wins away from clinching the Italian Open crown and completing the Career Golden Masters, a feat only Djokovic has managed before.

Sinner reclaimed world number one status from Carlos Alcaraz after winning the Monte-Carlo Masters in April, and now it looks as though he is in for a lengthy run atop the rankings.

The Spaniard has also confirmed he will be out for Roland Garros, meaning he will drop an additional 2000 points.

After reaching the semifinals of the Italian Open, Sinner has now guaranteed himself the position of world number one until after Wimbledon.

Even if Alcaraz wins both Queen’s and Wimbledon and Sinner loses all of his matches, the latter will still be ranked higher.

Jannik Sinner’s points to defend until after Wimbledon

While his position in the rankings is not under threat until after Wimbledon, Sinner will have plenty of points to defend in the near future.

Following the Italian Open, Sinner will be protecting 1300 points at Roland Garros, having reached the final there in 2025.

Sinner will only drop 50 points by missing the Halle Open this year, which he recently opted out of.

But then the reigning Wimbledon champion will be protecting 2000 points at the All England Club, where he emerged triumphant for the first time in 2025.
