Holger Rune remains very much on the comeback trail, despite the severity of the injury he suffered just last month.
The 22-year-old suffered a serious injury to his Achilles tendon whilst playing in Stockholm, naturally forcing him to retire from his match against Ugo Humbert.
Such was the nature of the injury that surgery was sadly required, which has ruled him out of action for the foreseeable future.
Or so many thought.

Rune was pictured training back on court earlier this week, leading many to question his decision.
In light of that scrutiny, he has now taken to social media to provide an update on his recovery.
Holger Rune remains positive about his injury comeback
Taking to Instagram, the Danish tennis star admitted that his latest update was a ‘super nerdy’ one.
However, Holger Rune actually seemed really positive about his situation, despite the fact that he is set to miss the majority of 2026.
Is Holger Rune going too quickly with his recovery?
He wrote: “It’s now 5.5 weeks since surgery and here we go with a super nerdy post on my ankle progression. Things going really well in phase 2 of my rehab and I feel good.”
Rune accompanied this message with a smiling face emoji, whilst the pictures and videos showed him walking on crutches and doing various strength tests using specialised equipment.
His last sentence read: “Grateful for the help I get from everyone involved and around.”
When will Holger Rune be back playing again after his injury?
With an injury like this, it’s hard to put an exact timeframe on the comeback.
After all, everybody heals differently, no matter how much effort one is putting in to rush that process.

Rune seems desperate to make a swift return, but he can only go as fast as his body will let him.
Fortunately, his mother, Aneke, did provide a rough timeframe, suggesting that she is expecting him to be back competing within six months.
This would be a remarkable feat if accomplished, and with each new update, he does seem to be making great strides that surprise his fans.
