Harriet Dart discussed whether she thinks there is a rivalry with Katie Boulter after their Wimbledon encounter.
For the first time since 1984, three or more British women advanced to the third round at the All-England Club.
Four decades ago it was Virginia Wade, Jo Durie, Anne Hobbs, Julie Salmon and Annabel Croft who reached that stage.
In the battle of the Brits on Centre Court in 2024, it was Dart who ensured she stayed in the draw by edging her compatriot in a final set tiebreak to claim victory.
Harriet Dart discusses if she thinks there is a rivalry with Katie Boulter
In a rare moment for British tennis the British number one and two faced one another at Wimbledon. Not only did Dart and Boulter do battle, but Britain’s top ranked male player Jack Draper faced British number two Cam Norrie on Court One.
Just three weeks after Boulter came from a set down to defeat Dart in Nottingham and go on to win the title, the World number 100 gained her revenge on tennis’ grandest stage with a 4-6, 6-1, 7-6[8] victory.
Post-match, Dart discussed if she considers Boutler a rival, but this was dismissed by the former World number 84. “Gosh. A rivalry? My record is woeful against her, so I wouldn’t call it a rivalry,” she told reporters.
“She’s been having an amazing year, not just this year but last year as well, so to be able to beat her here, shows how much I have come forward as well within my game.
“She’s an amazing player and I wasn’t really expecting to win here today as my head to head with her is absolutely awful.”

What is Harriet Dart’s head-to-head record against Katie Boulter?
Dart and Boulter have played one another eight times on the WTA Tour during their careers. The former’s Wimbledon win marked just her second victory over the World number 29.
Boulter won their first three meetings in Glasgow, Perth and Clare, all of which came in straight sets.
Dart claimed her first victory over her opponent in Gifu in 2018 before Boulter claimed the next three contests, two of which occurred in Nottingham.
But with her chance to shine on Centre Court, Dart rallied to cause an upset and join fellow British players Emma Raducanu and qualifier Sonay Kartal in round three at Wimbledon.
