Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe impressed at Wimbledon, with both losing to defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.
There is certainly no shame in having lost to the three-time Grand Slam champion, who lifted the Wimbledon trophy just last year.
Tiafoe fell at the third round stage at the All England Club, with the Spaniard clinching a 5-7, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(7-2), 6-2 win.
The world number three was always confident of overcoming his opponent even as the match went all the way, with Alcaraz saying he increases his level in the fifth set of matches.
Paul meanwhile lost to the French Open champion at the quarter-final stage, with Alcaraz coming out on top 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2.

It was a superb showing from Americans in general at SW19, with seven US players reaching the fourth round in the Wimbledon singles, the most since 2004.
Losing quarter-finalist Paul has now taken to social media following his exit, writing on Instagram: “Nothing quite like Wimbledon. See y’all next year.”
But Tiafoe was quick to disagree with his compatriot, commenting: “Caption gotta change ain’t nothing like The Open.”
How far can Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe go at the US Open?
Both Paul and Tiafoe will be desperate to shine in their home tournament, where there will be plenty of expectation from the crowd on American players.
The former’s best finish at the tournament was his round four venture last year, with the latter achieving his best Grand Slam result when reaching the semi-final in 2022.

The switch from the grass courts of Wimbledon to the hard courts of the US Open must now be made, with the next major getting underway at the end of August.
Paul has been more impressive on grass courts after his run at SW19 and indeed his fantastic victory at Queen’s.
But Tiafoe has impressed more on the hard courts, having followed up his 2022 US Open semi-final run with a quarter-final place in 2023.
