Carlos Alcaraz’s coaching situation remains up in the air after he decided to split with Juan Carlos Ferrero.
Alcaraz confirmed his split with Ferrero earlier this month, despite the duo having achieved huge success together.
Ferrero thinks all will be fine with Alcaraz despite the split, which has arrived shortly before the 2026 Australian Open.
Their fellow Spaniard Samuel Lopez remains on the coaching team of the ATP superstar, who has yet to win the Melbourne Grand Slam.

Yevgeny Kafelnikov doesn’t want to be Carlos Alcaraz’s next coach
Helped by Ferrero, Alcaraz has won every other Grand Slam twice, and is currently the number one-ranked player in the world.
Former world number one Yevgeny Kafelnikov has now offered his take on the situation, having been asked by Clay: “How difficult do you think it will be for Carlos to find a new coach and what kind of profile would that person have to be?”
He replied: “If you ask me, I personally would not want to deal with the parents. If Carlos approaches someone directly, that’s OK.
“The first thing a new coach should ask for is that the parents stay away from the coaching process. They can sit in the box, they can travel with the team, but they can’t interfere.
“A father cannot be an agent, taking care of all the deals, scheduling, and everything else. I’m honestly not sure who could take the helm now.”

What did Yevgeny Kafelnikov achieve in his playing career?
Kafelnikov has gone down as a tennis legend, having earned a place in the Hall of Fame thanks to his efforts.
Along with climbing to number one in the ATP rankings, he won two Grand Slam singles titles at the French Open and Australian Open.
The Russian also lost the 2000 Australian Open to Andre Agassi, but also managed to clinch four Grand Slam doubles titles.

Kafelnikov is also a gold medal winner from the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and claimed 26 ATP titles in total during his stunning career.
Remarkably, Alcaraz is already closing in on that total, having earned 24 titles so far, notably with Ferrero playing a key role.
