Emma Raducanu enjoyed a superb run at Wimbledon, with the Briton reaching the fourth round at SW19.

The fantastic journey to the round of 16 was made even more impressive given her real injury struggles in recent times.

But Raducanu won those battles to make it to the All England Club, where she was eventually knocked out by Lulu Sun.

The former British number one can be very proud of her efforts, with Raducanu sharing an emotional post on Instagram following her exit.

There was, of course, supposed to be another opportunity for success for the Briton at Wimbledon, after she agreed to partner Andy Murray in the mixed doubles.

But the 2021 US Open winner was forced to withdraw from the event due to injury, with Greg Rusedski understanding of Raducanu’s decision.

Former Wimbledon semi-finalist Sam Querrey is, however, not an agreement, saying that he would have taken to the court alongside Murray.

“I don’t know Emma Raducanu at all, she seems so nice,” Querrey said on The French Connection. “But Andy Murray has been the face of Great British tennis for 15 years.

“If Serena Williams was playing her last US Open and I broke my leg, I would find a way out on the court, just because it’s her.

“I felt like she had an obligation to Andy to go out there and do whatever she could to play. I don’t know how bad her wrist was hurting her.

“I’m sure she internally was struggling with that decision to not play doubles in Andy Murray’s last match. It was a story for a second, I’m sure it will blow over.

“But I feel like I would play it, I feel like I would feel so obligated because it’s Andy Murray at Wimbledon.”

What is next for Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu?

Both Murray and Raducanu would have been very excited to have linked up on the court, particularly in front of a home crowd.

Sadly, however, it wasn’t meant to be, with Murray fortunately getting his fitting Wimbledon send-off after playing doubles with his brother Jamie.

Andy is now preparing to represent Team GB at the 2024 Olympics, which gets underway later this month in Paris.

The Scot will be chasing his third Olympic gold on the clay of Roland Garros, but Raducanu has opted against taking part.

Katie Boulter will be Britain’s sole representative in the women’s singles, with Raducanu instead set to play at the Mubadala Citi Open in Washington, D.C.
