The ATP and WTA tours are fully focused on the French Open, but Wimbledon is now rapidly approaching.

Jannik Sinner is the top seed at the French Open in the men’s singles event, with Aryna Sabalenka the top women’s seed.

Both players have made it into round two, with Sinner winning his first Grand Slam match since triumphing at the Australian Open.

The ATP number one served a three-month ban immediately after his success in Melbourne, and lost the Italian Open final earlier this month in his first tournament back.

Carlos Alcaraz meanwhile is also into the second round of the French Open, with the Spaniard aiming to defend his title.

Alcaraz also won Wimbledon in 2024, with the grass court tournament having just dealt with a withdrawal as it prepares to get underway in London.

Finnish player Emil Ruusuvuori has withdrawn from Wimbledon, having also recently withdrawn from the French Open.

The 26-year-old, who is ranked 279th in the world, was due to take on Aleksandar Kovacevic in round one at Roland Garros.

At the All England Club meanwhile, Ruusuvuori will be replaced by American Brandon Holt, with British player Billy Harris next in line.

Ruusuvuori’s withdrawal from Wimbledon is certainly understandable, with the Finn having recently taken a six-month absence.

He unfortunately suffered panic attacks and has been working on his mental health, admirably opening up about his struggles.

Ruusuvuori has reached as high as number 37 in the ATP rankings, and picked up an impressive win over Sinner back in 2023.

After losing five straight matches to the Italian, he emerged victorious in their quarter-final clash at ‘s-Hertogenbosch, beating the number two seed 6-3, 6-4 for his first top 10 win.

Withdrawals have been a regular occurrence in recent times at Grand Slam level, with Matteo Berrettini withdrawing from the French Open.

Former Olympic champion Belinda Bencic also took the tough decision, along with the likes of David Goffin and Kei Nishikori.
