Daniil Medvedev fell out of the world’s top 10 this year.

The Russian star finished 2024 ranked fifth in the world, but now sits 13th in the ATP rankings.

He did, however, find some form at the end of the year, as Medvedev won his first title since 2023 at the Almaty Open in Kazakhstan.

Medvedev was also impressive at the China Open, Shanghai Masters, and Paris Masters, leaving many feeling positive about his chances in 2026.

During an exhibition event in Russia, former doubles Grand Slam finalist Mansour Bahrami predicted where Medvedev will be ranked next year.

“He’s been number one in the world, he’s a great player, and he’s been there for the past 10 years.

“I think he’ll be back in the top 10 for sure, and I have no doubt about that.”

Medvedev currently trails world number 10 Jack Draper by 230 points.

Medvedev lost in the second round this January, meaning he won’t have many points to defend, but he has an impressive record at Rod Laver Arena.

The Russian is a three-time finalist in Melbourne and has won 76% of his matches Down Under.

Twice, Medvedev was a set away from winning the Australian Open, in 2022 and 2024.

He famously led Rafael Nadal by two sets to love in 2022, before crumbling to defeat in a match now remembered as the ‘miracle in Melbourne’.
