Alcaraz shockingly split with Ferrero during the offseason, ending the successful seven-year player-coach relationship.
Many were concerned that the decision would derail the Spaniard’s career, but those worries were put to bed at the Australian Open.
With former assistant coach, Samuel Lopez, as the new main man in his corner, Alcaraz emerged victorious at Melbourne Park, claiming his seventh major and becoming the youngest player ever to complete the career Grand Slam.

In an interview with Chiringuito Inside, Lopez said: “I thought it was hasty.
“I felt Alcaraz still needed Ferrero a lot, even though I knew he is so good that he can keep winning on his own.
“The proof is that he went to Australia and won the Australian Open. Everyone is different; each person grieves in their own way.
How would you feel if Juan Carlos Ferrero returned to coach Carlos Alcaraz now?
“I think Alcaraz remembered Ferrero because he is infinitely grateful for everything he has done for him, but he has not done it publicly.
“There is a lot of noise around it, and when a relationship is so intense, a little time will do well.”

After parting company with Ferrero, Alcaraz was first spotted back in action at an exhibition event in South Korea, where he beat his rival, Jannik Sinner.
Then, Alcaraz entered his first tour-level tournament of the year, the Australian Open, and began his campaign with three comfortable wins over Adam Walton, Yannick Hanfmann and Corentin Moutet.
He defeated Tommy Paul in round four and made quick work of home hope Alex de Minaur in the quarterfinals.
In the semifinals, Alcaraz dropped his first set of the tournament against Alexander Zverev, with the German forcing a decisive fifth set.
Alcaraz came out on top to set up a final clash with Novak Djokovic, which he won in four sets to be crowned champion.
