Roland Garros is now well underway, with plenty of high-profile players having already fallen in the first round.
ATP star Daniil Medvedev lost his Roland Garros opener, with his fellow ace Taylor Fritz suffering the same fate.
But the shocks have not been limited to the men’s singles event, with WTA superstar Jessica Pegula leading the biggest upsets in the Roland Garros women’s singles draw.
In light of the results in the opening round of the Grand Slam, former player Eugenie Bouchard has already changed her mind over which woman she thinks will lift the trophy.
What was the biggest shock from the first round of Roland Garros this year?
Eugenie Bouchard changes her mind over Roland Garros women’s winner
Bouchard said on the Nothing Major Show: “My sneaky pick before the draw started was [Elina] Svitolina, especially after her Rome win, and I thought it would be a sweet time to win with it being Gael’s [Monfils] last tournament here.
“But then I saw her first round match and it was really tough. She barely escaped in a three-setter, so I’m not sure if her level can bring her all the way through.
“It could go both ways. It could go that you have escaped and now you are loose and you play amazingly for the rest of the tournament, but maybe her level or fatigue is too high.
“I think Coco [Gauff] will go far, but I don’t think she will defend. I saw [Aryna] Sabalenka looking pretty solid. If I had to pick one, I am going to go with Sabalenka.
“She has had some time to not win a lot of matches, and I think that has actually been good for her, to not do amazingly in Rome and Madrid because she has been winning so much.
“Sometimes it’s hard to keep winning. As she’s lost two, I feel like that could loosen her up a little bit.”

Pegula certainly isn’t the only seed to have lost in the very first round of the Grand Slam, having been joined by many other players across the WTA and ATP tours.
Also falling at the first hurdle were Ekaterina Alexandrova, Cristina Bucsa, Linda Noskova, Clara Tauson, Leylah Fernandez and Liudmila Samsonova.
Qinwen Zheng, Taylor Townsend and Barbora Krejcikova are also already out of the women’s draw in the French capital.
And joining Medvedev in shock exits after just one match were Taylor Fritz, Alexander Bublik and Jiri Lehecka among others.
