One-time grand slam champion Emma Raducanu has got a clear plan of attack heading into the new year.

The 2024 season was a season of progress rather than making great strides as Raducanu posted a record of 23 wins and 13 losses.

After an injury-hit 2023 campaign, where the 2021 US Open winner played just 10 matches, the 22-year-old rose from 285 to 58 in the rankings.

Various niggles and struggles for consistency, arguably, prevented her from returning to the top 50 in 2024 but Raducanu is “focused” ahead of the new season.

Now, the former world number 10 has outlined what tweaks she will make to get the best out of her game, with the Australian Open just a few weeks away.

Emma Raducana looks ahead to 2025 season

It’s been more than three years since Raducanu had her fairytale grand slam run in New York, and heading into 2025 there has been a shift in attitude for the Brit.

While Raducanu is determined to win another slam, that is not the be-all and end-all for the right-hander.

“I want to play more than I did this year. I think now, with my set-up, I’m in a place where I can continue work on the road. So I don’t necessarily need to come back to continue good physical work.

“I can do it pretty much every day, like microdoses. And I think that’s actually going to be a great addition for me next year, which I’m excited about.

“Also with my tennis, I’m in a pretty good spot. I feel like I just want to see how much I can do, fulfil my potential. I’m curious about what my level can get to. I really want to play more. And I think a big part of that is just staying healthy,” via Sky Sports.

Emma Raducanu makes coach change ahead of Australian Open

Raducanu missed much of the 2023 season after having three surgeries in the space of 10 days, as both wrists and one of her ankes were operated on.

During pre-season, Raducanu has hired fitness trainer Yutaka Nakamura and is continuing work with coach and former childhood mentor Nick Cavaday.

In 2024, Raducanu suffered one significant injury, a foot problem in September that sidelined her for two months.

Now, the world number 58 hopes Nakamura, who worked with grand slam winners Maria Sharapova and Naomi Osaka in the past, can help her stay on top of her fitness.

She added: “I just want to see how good I can be. I really want to see how fast I can be, how fit I can be, how explosive, how well I can move, what I can do. It’s literally just about playing it like a game, seeing how far I can go.”
