Emma Raducanu has reached the Miami Open quarter-finals for the first time after beating Amanda Anisimova.

Raducanu made career history by doing this, as she appears to be refinding form on the WTA Tour.

This includes Raducanu beating Emma Navarro, in what is just her third top 10 win of her career.

Despite finding success at the Floridian WTA 1000 tournament, Raducanu is still without a permanent coach after ending a recent trial period.

The Brit has still been able to play some impressive tennis in Miami, with one area of her game particularly firing.

Emma Raducanu achieves ‘wild’ service statistic against Amanda Anisimova

After winning her fourth round match at the Miami Open against Anisimova, Raducanu went to the Tennis Channel desk to speak to Prakash Amritraj.

During this interview, Amritraj pointed out Raducanu’s serve as a particular weapon against Anisimova.

Amritraj told Raducanu that she did not lose a single point on serve in the first set, and actually only missed two first serves in those 12 points.

Despite being aware of her strong service performance, Raducanu appeared surprised at just how well she had served against Anisimova and was really pleased when responding to Amritraj.

“I came off the court and I said, ‘I think I served pretty well today’, but yeah to have those stats to back it up I guess I really was,” said Raducanu.

“I knew I had to be focused every single ball, every point I was trying to win and yeah it’s not easy. With Amanda like she is such a dangerous opponent, you can’t let up, because she can break you just by hitting four winners straight away.

“So I just tried to be so focused on every point and I guess that helped. Yeah, I’m really happy with those stats in the match.”

Emma Raducanu service stats at the Australian Open vs Miami Open

These numbers are particularly noticeable now, as Raducanu struggled with serving at the Australian Open.

Raducanu beat Anisimova at the Australian Open as well, but her serve was more of a hindrance than a help on that occasion.

Comparing the two matches, Raducanu did not produce a single double fault at the Miami Open, but hit five in Melbourne.

The 2021 US Open champion also had a higher first serve percentage, and faced 12 less break points in her latest encounter against Anisimova.

Raducanu will look to continue her strong serving performances in her Miami Open quarter-final, where she will play world number four Jessica Pegula.

This will be a third meeting between Raducanu and Pegula, with both players having one win apiece.
