Emma Raducanu opened up on how she recovered from injury as she prepares for the Billie Jean King Cup finals.
The former British number one has not played since retiring from her Korea Open quarter-final due to a foot injury.
The 22-year-old was forced to miss the rest of the Asian swing, a section of the year that is one of her favourites.
But she now has the opportunity to end the season representing her country and leave Malaga with Britain’s first Billie Jean King cup title.
What did Emma Raducanu say about her fitness ahead of the Billie Jean King cup finals?
Emma Raducanu’s last match came on September 17 when she retired from injury after losing the first set to Daria Kasatkina at the Korea Open.
She has suffered multiple physical issues in 2024 after returning to the tour in January following double wrist and ankle surgery.
Now she is back to full fitness and Raducanu told reporters in Malaga ahead of the Billie Jean King Cup finals about her journey back to full health.
“I think when I got injured in Korea I didn’t know how bad it was initially. I did it in my second round there and managed to finish the match,” the 2021 US Open winner said.
“I ended up not playing for about four or five weeks after that and the last few weeks have been a gradual build up and return to play.
“I have done some really good work, I am feeling good about my game and in a place I can try and compete on the match court, but it is different.
“With the time off I was trying to develop myself in other ways, doing other hobbies, I spent some time in China to see my Grandma but otherwise it has been full focus on trying to get healthy for this tournament.”

Emma Raducanu comments on new fitness coach rumours
Raducanu hit the headlines recently after the Telegraph reported she is in talks to hire fitness trainer Yutaka Nakamura.
He worked with future tennis Hall of Famer Maria Sharapova for eight years and also spent some time working with Naomi Osaka. The duo have won nine Grand Slam titles combined.
When asked about this during her post-match press conference, Raducanu confirmed the rumours about her adding to her team are true.
“We are having discussions and we will see. I am looking forward to 2025 regardless,” she said. “I know if I am on court and healthy and competing I can go even higher and further.
“I think my athleticism is a strength of mine but it’s nowhere near its full potential and I am just looking forward to exploring that further.”
