The 2024 Billie King Jean King was initially scheduled to run from Wednesday, November 13 to Wednesday, November 20. But a severe weather warning in southern Spain saw the Billie Jean King Cup delay the start until Thursday, November 14 and push the first match back.

What is the format for the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup?

The 2024 Billie Jean King Cup will feature 12 nations and adopts a straight knockout format. Four of the countries to qualify in Canada, Italy, the Czech Republic and Australia also got a first-round bye and progressed straight into the quarter-finals as the only seeded qualifiers.

All games at the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup will adopt a best-of-three tie-breaker format. The first two matches in each encounter are also singles ties but a doubles game will decide the winner if a third game is required. A wildcard, the hosts and the 2023 finalists were seeded.

Canada won the last running of the Billie Jean King Cup in 2023, with the Great White North beating Italy in the final to also claim the tournament for their first title. Marina Stakusic and Leylah Fernandez beat Martina Trevisan 7-5, 6-3 and Paolini 6-2, 6-3 respectively last year.
