Emma Raducanu disagrees with Daniil Medvedev’s view on what he would change in tennis.

There are several players who have voiced their views on different issues and topics within the sport.

One subject that has often been discussed over the last year was the different tennis balls that are used on tour.

Now Emma Raducanu, the former World number 10 and 2021 US Open champion, has shared her thoughts on the subject.

Emma Raducanu does not agree with Daniil Medvedev on what he would change in tennis

The likes of Alexander Zverev has criticised the multiple tennis balls used on tour on multiple occasions.

Carlos Alcaraz complained that the constant use of different tennis balls increase the risk of injury to the players.

During a roundtable discussion with Lacoste, Daniil Medvedev and Grigor Dimitrov said they would change the balls that are used, but Raducanu disagrees.

“I would say the balls. It is difficult switching conditions and stuff,” she said. “But in a way I think it is difficult, I have had wrist issues for sure and heavy balls don’t necessarily help that.

“But at the same time I think it’s good that there are differences and it’s not just one type of ball which suits a certain type of player and they can dominate throughout the season.

“I think it brings a bit of variability. I like certain balls which someone else might not like and it might not help me in a match. I think in a way it’s, barring maybe the injury part, it adds a bit of excitement and unpredictability to it.”

Emma Raducanu finds her best tennis to beat Emma Navarro in Miami

Raducanu reminded everyone what she is capable of when she beat Emma Navarro at the Miami Open.

Raducanu won 7-6, 2-6, 7-6 to record her first career match-win against a top 10 player on a hard court and only her third on any surface.

Post-match the World number 60 said the feeling of that victory took her back to Flushing Meadows in 2021 when she produced some stunning performances to win the US Open title.

“I would say not necessarily more in terms of [the US Open] magnitude, but I would say emotionally, just a lot more aware of all of the suffering as well,” Raducanu said.

“Because, you know, when I won the US Open, I just won 10 matches in straight sets. I mean, I didn’t have, like, the losses, the downs, the months of, like, losing streaks. I think to come out of it now, it does, yeah.”
