Elena Rybakina was unable to add to her Grand Slam trophy collection this year.
Rybakina won her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon in 2022, but she has not won a Grand Slam title since then.
The Kazakhstani struggled to show her Grand Slam winning form at the start of the 2025 season, but Rybakina found form during the Asian swing to qualify for her third consecutive WTA Finals.
Despite only just making it into the year-end tournament, Rybakina went on to win the WTA Finals after beating Aryna Sabalenka in the final.
When reflecting on Rybakina’s strong finish to the 2025 season, Tennis Hall of Famer Steve Flink has claimed she should already have won more Grand Slam titles.

Steve Flink thinks Elena Rybakina should have won more Grand Slams
Although Rybakina was able to finish the season in sensational form, it was far from straightforward both on and off the court.
This included Rybakina making numerous coaching changes, before she began solely working with Stefano Vukov, her coach who was suspended by the WTA for eight months earlier this year.
When referencing Rybakina’s off-court situation on the Court-Side with Beilinson Tennis YouTube channel, the aforementioned Flink claimed that she should already have won two or three more Grand Slams than her Wimbledon victory from 2022.
“I hope that there’s tranquillity instead of turmoil, tranquillity replaces it, and she’s able to play her best, because when she’s in a calm state like she was at Wimbledon ’22, she’s more than capable of winning majors…she should have two or three more in her collection right now,” said Flink.
“Maybe, just maybe next year is her time and I hope she builds on what we saw at the end of this year.”
