Denis Shapovalov has endured a tricky season, with the Canadian on 10 wins and 15 losses for 2024 so far.

His Grand Slam campaign began with a very disappointing first round exit at the Australian Open, although that did improve to a third round journey at the French Open.

The former world number 10 now has his focus set firmly on Wimbledon, with Shapovalov defeating Nicolas Jarry in round one in London.

That was followed by a second round win over Daniel Altmaier, setting up a third round meeting with American ace Ben Shelton.

The 25-year-old has been enjoying himself at SW19, with Shapovalov certain to have gained plenty of confidence from his opening matches.

When it was noted on Tennis Channel how Wimbledon is different from a lot of other tournaments where the fans are right on you, Shapovalov said: “Super awesome.

“There is a lot of Canuks coming down here, there was a lot of Canadian flags today so it was great to have that support.

“It’s always awesome. It feels like you are playing in your backyard almost anywhere you go. It’s really cool.”

Wimbledon fans stay loyal amid weather disruptions

Fans have been in high spirits at Wimbledon, despite the poor weather often disrupting the schedule at SW19.

American star Taylor Fritz has spoken about the issue during the tournament, claiming it is ‘miserable’ when playing in windy conditions.

The roof has been forced into action on occasions in London, although that wasn’t an issue for Briton Emma Raducanu, who prefers a roof to no roof despite the tournament being billed as outdoor.

Big crowds are expected to continue at Wimbledon despite the weather problems, with home fans treated to some superb displays from British players.

Cam Norrie and Jack Draper only just played out a fantastic battle, with Harriet Dart and Katie Boulter doing the same.
