Davis Cup predictions
The Tennis Gazette writers have predicted the winner of this week’s Davis Cup Finals in Bologna.
Matthew Johns: The Davis Cup Finals have become really difficult to predict this year, with both Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz missing. Although Italy still have a strong lineup, I have a feeling that Czechia could go all the way. Jiri Lehecka and Jakub Mensik knocked out the USA earlier this year and should not be underestimated in Bologna.
Lee Clarke: I fancy Germany! Alexander Zverev has to draw a line under a drab year, and what better way to do it than by helping his country win the Davis Cup?
Peter Lynch: There are plenty of big names this year despite the absence of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. I can see the talented Czech team emerging victorious, with Jakub Mensik enjoying a strong event.
George Patten: The 2025 Davis Cup Finals haven’t gotten off to the best of starts, with the two best players in the world, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, withdrawing from their respective squads. In their absence, perhaps the strength in depth of a team like Czechia could prove vital. With Tomas Berdych at the helm, and Jiri Lehecka, Jakub Mensik, and Tomas Machac ready and raring to go, it may just be time for the Czechs to win their first title since 2013.
