Jannik Sinner will attempt to extend his own incredible all-time record at this year’s Italian Open.
Sinner made history at the Madrid Open by becoming the first man to win five consecutive ATP Masters 1000 titles without missing any on the calendar.
Since Paris 2025, the Italian has not lost a match at the premium level, and now he’ll look to make it six straight in Rome.
Can anyone stop Jannik Sinner at the Italian Open?
If so, who?
His last loss on the ATP Tour came back in February, when he fell to Jakub Mensik in the quarterfinals of the Qatar Open.
Ahead of the Italian Open, former world number one Daniil Medvedev had incredibly high praise for Sinner amid his dominance.

Daniil Medvedev comments on Jannik Sinner’s recent dominance
Asked about Sinner in an interview with Bolshe, Medvedev said: “He plays tennis very well. It was always surprising when there were the big three.
“It’s surprising now with Jannik and Carlos, but probably more so with Jannik. It’s the stability.
“Because anyone can have a bad day. You might, I don’t know, have a bad breakfast, your stomach hurts, or you didn’t sleep well, or you have a headache.
Can any of these four players stop Jannik Sinner winning the French Open this year?
Is there anyone else you think could be a threat to Sinner?
“It’s clear that this is not what causes defeat, but the level may drop a little. It doesn’t fall much for him, and even if it falls, it’s enough to win matches.
“This is, of course, a bit of a fantasy, but then again, everyone knows that he can play very well. No one is surprised when he wins. Therefore, all that remains is to congratulate him, and if you play with him, try to win.”

Daniil Medvedev’s record at the Italian Open
Clay has certainly never been Medvedev’s strongest surface, but he has tasted success at the Italian Open before.
His first three campaigns in Rome ended in the opening round, with Medvedev crashing out early in 2018, 2019 and 2021.
After missing the tournament in 2022, he returned in 2023 and put together his best clay-court campaign ever.
Medvedev dropped just one set throughout the entirety of the 2023 Italian Open, which he won by beating Holger Rune in the final.
Since then, Medvedev has tallied two consecutive fourth-round exits in Rome.
