Danielle Collins expressed the ‘special’ feeling around the US tennis team at the Paris Olympics Games.
The World number nine is enjoying experiencing some things on tour for the first time in the final year of her career.
In 2024 Collins claimed her first WTA 1000 title, reached the last 16 at Wimbledon for the first time ever and has now made her debut at the Olympic Games.
Furthermore, she is part of a solid women’s US tennis team, and she has a strong relationship with her colleagues.

Collins is part of a US Olympics tennis team that includes America’s co-flag bearer Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, Emma Navarro and Desirae Krawczyk.
An already great moment for Collins was made extra special by who she is sharing it with and the 30-year-old issued a lovely assessment of her teammates, all of who she has known for some time.
“I think it’s even more special when you’re an American getting the opportunity to do this because you don’t get to be on the Olympic team unless you’re, like, in the top-15 in the world, right? It’s incredibly special, and for me it’s special because I’ve known these women for so long,” Collins told USA Today Sports.
“I’ve known Jess (Pegula) since we were teenagers, I’ve known Des (doubles player Desirae Krawczyk) since we were 10 years old playing national tournaments together and I’ve known Coco (Gauff) a good part of her life because I met her when she was very young. And then Emma Navarro, also being from UVA, is incredibly special.
“I talk about it endlessly but the camaraderie we share is just something really special. It’s been so nice in my final year. I’ll get to have these memories forever.”

Collins is playing singles and doubles at the Paris Olympic Games.
She began her singles campaign by beating Laura Siegemund after the German retired while trailing 3-6, 0-2.
Collins was taken to three sets against Caroline Wozniacki in the previous round but prevailed 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to set up an encounter against Colombia’s Camila Osorio, which she won 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.
Collins will also be in doubles action alongside four-time mixed doubles Grand Slam champion Krawczyk.
They will commence their Olympics campaign against the Greek pair of Maria Sakkari and Despina Papamichail.
