Coco Gauff has started to turn things around in her head-to-head against Iga Swiatek.

Gauff beat Swiatek at the United Cup in her fourth consecutive victory over the six-time Grand Slam champion.

While she has the recent advantage in the head-to-head, for a long time Gauff was dominated by Swiatek whenever they played.

When reacting to the most recent meeting between the pair, Coco Gauff’s former coach Brad Gilbert has revealed the reason why he thinks his former player is now able to beat Swiatek.

Brad Gilbert says why he thinks Coco Gauff is now able to beat Iga Swiatek

Gauff actually lost 11 of her first 12 meetings against Swiatek, with all 11 of those defeats coming in straight sets.

However, there has been a huge turnaround in this rivalry, with Gauff now winning four consecutive matches against Swiatek in straight sets.

Prove us wrong…

The aforementioned Gilbert was Gauff’s coach for her first victory over Swiatek at the 2023 Cincinnati Open, and he has now explained why he thinks she has been able to take the momentum.

Gilbert wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) when asked why Gauff is now beating Swiatek, “Playing with more belief obviously.

“Now vs Iga, she seems to be able to break down her forehand. Probably the biggest things not feeling the need to press early in points.”

When could Coco Gauff play Iga Swiatek at the Australian Open?

With Gauff no longer fearing Swiatek as opposition, she could actually be looking forward to a potential meeting at the Australian Open.

Gauff will be the third seed at the Australian Open, sitting just behind Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek as the first and second seeds, respectively.

As a result, Gauff will be drawn to play either Sabalenka or Swiatek in the semifinals of the Australian Open.
