Coco Gauff already has one Grand Slam title to her name, but will have grand ambitions of adding plenty more to her resume before her career comes to a close.

Fortunately, at just 20 years old, time is certainly on her side.

However, with a whole host of intense competition in her way, her road to such success promises to be long and arduous.

Wimbledon promises a fine opportunity to streamline that process, and should she win it this time around, 2025 could mark the year where she finally takes the necessary steps to truly challenge Iga Swiatek.

Coco Gauff admits one bad thing about being a tennis player

Speaking in her press conference ahead of the upcoming event, questions varied from rating her chances at Wimbledon to her thoughts on tennis as a whole.

And whilst combing over the latter, Coco Gauff stumbled upon the one thing that she doesn’t like about being a tennis player.

Her answer was short and succinct: ‘One thing I don’t like. Maybe just the angry bears online. They’re a little bit annoying! But I love the block button, I know there is a thing on Twitter about how much I block people, but it’s like bye!’

She did offset this by outlining a few perks of the job: ‘I think the one thing I love, there’s a lot of things, but probably just the connection with people. Last week I met a boy who was a fan of me and he was starting to get emotional and teary-eyed when he met me so, it’s just things and interactions like that that make you realise that what you’re doing on the court does matter, whether you’re having the best time of your life and winning everything or whether you’re having a short bad moment and losing.

‘It just makes interactions with humans so satisfying and makes you feel worth it.’

Coco Gauff has every chance of a strong Wimbledon showing

Having been drawn against fellow American Caroline Dolehide in the first round, Gauff has been handed a tricky clash early on which she will do well to get through.

This still remains her worst Grand Slam if history is anything to go by, given she has never surpassed the fourth round.

But with a play style that should be conducive to the grass, with her powerful serve sure to bail her out of some tricky situations, she also has the seeding on her side too.

Sam Querrey has already predicted how far Coco Gauff will go at Wimbledon, provided she gets past the big-serving Dolehide.

After all, with Aryna Sabalenka having been dumped out in the quarter-finals at Roland Garros, whilst Gauff lost in the semi-finals, she usurped the Belarusian to reach a career-high ranking of second in the world.

Therefore, she will be on the opposite side of the draw to the near-unstoppable Swiatek, and will fancy her chances against anyone should she enjoy a strong start with a few convincing, confidence-boosting wins.
