Sam Querrey believes Coco Gauff can produce her best ever run at the Wimbledon Championships.

All eyes are on the new World number two to see if she can make a big impression at the grass court Grand Slam.

This year marks the first time the 20-year-old will play at the All-England Club as a major winner after clinching the 2023 US Open title.

After suffering a first round exit at SW19 last summer, Gauff will be determined to banish those memories by having a strong run in 2024.

How does Sam Querrey rate Coco Gauff’s Wimbledon chances?

Querrey previewed the upcoming edition of Wimbledon alongside Rennae Stubbs on the French Connection Podcast.

The former World number 11, who reached the semi-finals of the Championships back in 2017, discussed how far Gauff can go.

He believes she can progress further than she ever has at Wimbledon should she overcome the tricky test of big serving Caroline Dolehide in round one.

“Caroline Dolehide has a huge serve. She has one of the biggest serves in this women’s draw. She is going to go out there and swing away and if things are landing in that’s going to be a tough one for Coco,” Querrey explained.

“It’s the first round match and nobody comes out first round and plays lights out. So if Dolehide can go swing for swing and hold her serve, the pressure goes over to Coco.

“But if Coco gets through that I like her to make a deep run, I think she is going to be confident and play well and I like her to make a semi-final or maybe even more than that.”

What is Coco Gauff’s Wimbledon draw?

Gauff’s best run at Wimbledon was reaching the fourth round in 2019 and 2021.

If she is to reach that stage once again, she will have to defeat the big-serving Dolehide in round one and either Elisabetta Cocciaretto or qualifier Anca Todoni will be waiting in round two.

Sorana Cirstea or Clara Burel are Gauff’s likely opponents in round three and if she is to progress further than fourth round for the first time ever, a tricky encounter against Victoria Azarenka, Naomi Osaka, Emma Navarro or Karolina Pliskova could be on the cards for Gauff.

French Open runner-up Jasmine Paolini or former Wimbledon quarter-finalist Madison Keys are potential last eight opponents for Gauff.

If she reaches the semi-finals where Querrey believes is possible, Aryna Sabalenka could be her opponent, and World number one Iga Swiatek could be standing across the net in the final.
