Coco Gauff has continued her search for a second Grand Slam title by reaching the quarter-finals of the Australian Open.
Gauff has learned not to take anything for granted after her fantastic 2024 season, which ended with WTA Finals success.
World number three Gauff then continued that form into 2025 by helping the USA emerge victorious at the United Cup.
Gauff loved playing at the United Cup, where the 20-year-old was named MVP after winning all seven of her matches.
She has now swapped singles and doubles for just singles at the Australian Open, where she has just secured a comeback win over Belinda Bencic.

Coco Gauff emulates Monica Seles with nine consecutive WTA win
And not only has it secured her a place in the quarter-finals of the first Grand Slam of the season, but it has also helped her follow in the footsteps of legendary figure Monica Seles.
As per OptaAce, Gauff has become the youngest player to win her first nine WTA Tour-level matches in consecutive seasons since Seles in 1992-1993.
Seles won four of her nine Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open, with all of her major triumphs remarkably coming in a six-year period from 1990 to 1996.
Coco Gauff praises Paula Badosa ahead of Australian Open quarter-final
Gauff will be proud of her latest achievement, but at the same time may just get an unwanted flashback to last season.
She reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open and French Open in 2024, but that momentum suddenly stopped as she suffered fourth round exits at Wimbledon and the US Open.
Gauff did, however, recover to end the season on a high with WTA Finals success, having also won titles in Auckland and Beijing.

She looked back on the latter in her latest post-match press conference, having beaten Badosa en route to the title in China.
“I just remember her playing great tennis,” said Gauff. “I honestly don’t know how I got out of that match. She was playing great tennis.
“Honestly, I don’t remember a lot. I know we split sets, and I was down a break or something like that. She’s a tough opponent.
“Every time I play her, you know it is going to be a tough match. She’s a great player, coming off some great momentum.
“Yeah, hopefully I can play good tennis. But I expect her to bring her best. It’s a high-stakes match. But I’m excited. I love competing. I feel like these matches will only make me better.”
And when asked what makes Badosa tough, Gauff replied: “Just her physicality. She can obviously serve well on both wings of the court.
“Yeah, I just think her physicality. She’s a great mover and can play aggressive. Yeah, I think she’s an all-around player, complete player.”
