Coco Gauff has started 2025 as she finished 2024, with the WTA Finals champion currently shining brightly at the Australian Open.
Gauff thinks Jannik Sinner will win the Australian Open, with the former certainly showing promise of doing the same in Melbourne.
The WTA number three has stormed into the fourth round of the first Grand Slam of the season, where Gauff is yet to drop a set.
Gauff was handed a tricky Australian Open draw, but the 2023 US Open champion has shown very few signs of struggle this far.
The 20-year-old made it past Sofia Kenin and Jodie Burrage in rounds one and two respectively before clinching a third round victory over Leylah Fernandez.

Coco Gauff has learned not to take anything for granted after reaching Australian Open fourth round
She now faces Belinda Bencic in the fourth round of the Australian Open, with Gauff currently trying to appreciate every moment of her promising career.
Speaking on court after her latest win, she said: “I definitely think my community has helped me. I grew up in Delray Beach and I have been involved in volunteering in my community.

“I also grew up in the church, so when you have a community like that you have no choice but to keep your grounding.
“The people that I meet every single day make me realise that tennis feels like such high stakes but it’s really not.
“I’m so lucky to be able to do what I do, get paid well by doing it and be able to use my platform to give back to others. I’m very grateful.
“The biggest thing I learned last year was to not take anything for granted and just realise that this time is going to go by so fast.
“Hopefully it doesn’t feel like it in the moment, but I’m sure 20 years on from now I’ll be wishing I could sometimes go back. I’m just trying to enjoy it whilst I’m here.”
What WTA titles has Coco Gauff won as she chases Australian Open title?
Aged just 20, Gauff has had a phenomenal career so far, with plenty more success on the cards, potentially in Melbourne this month.
She already boasts nine WTA Tour titles, including one Grand Slam, and has previously reached number two in the world.
| Year | Titles | Tournaments |
| 2024 | 3 | WTA Finals, Beijing, Auckland |
| 2023 | 4 | US Open, Cincinnati, Washington DC, Auckland |
| 2021 | 1 | Parma |
| 2019 | 1 | Linz |
Gauff has since slipped to third, but that has largely been down to the dominance of Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek in recent times.
All three women remain in the Australian Open, but intriguingly Gauff beat both rivals at the WTA Finals in November.
She has been given a slight boost of sorts given that WTA number five and 2024 Australian Open finalist Qinwen Zheng has exited the event, although world number four Jasmine Paolini also remains.
| Rank | Player | Age | Points |
| 1 | Aryna Sabalenka | 26 | 9656 |
| 2 | Iga Swiatek | 23 | 8120 |
| 3 | Coco Gauff | 20 | 6888 |
| 4 | Jasmine Paolini | 29 | 5399 |
| 5 | Qinwen Zheng | 22 | 5325 |
