Coco Gauff has been discussing her form ahead of the clay court season and there is something that she’s very determined to do.

The American star is gearing up to play compatriot Sachia Vickery in the Stuttgart Open today.

It will be her first match of the season on clay and it will be her first time on court since a defeat to Caroline Garcia at the Miami Open.

Gauff has an abundance of potential and there is something that she really wants to achieve again in the coming weeks of 2024.

Coco Gauff shares what she’d like to do very soon

Well, every tennis player is probably in the same boat but Gauff is really keen to get herself back into the winner’s circle.

Particularly on clay, it’s been a disappointing couple of years for Gauff – with success eluding her since 2021 on the surface.

Not since the Emilia-Romagna Open in 2021 has Gauff lifted a prize aloft and it’s something that she’s keen to address on the surface.

She told The Express: “I think clay and hard are definitely my favorite surfaces. Again, I can play well on all of them depending on how I show up to a tournament, honestly.

“I’m not looking at the French Open right now. I’m focused on Stuttgart. I want to win, try to win Madrid or Rome or here, just because I can’t remember — the last time I won a clay court title was, like, a couple of years ago if I’m not mistaken.

“So I kind of just want to get a recent clay title under my belt. So any of the ones along the next couple weeks would be nice.”

Fans will be hoping to see some Gauff magic this year

The defining moment of Gauff’s career came in August of last year when she lifted the US Open for her first Grand Slam title.

It was likely extra special for the first one to be the one that takes place in the United States but there needs to be more in the offing.

Gauff has reached a French Open final previously and after losing out to Iga Swiatek in 2022, she will not have the determination to go and win it.

At 20-years-old the future is seriously bright for Gauff and her record at the slams is already pretty good.

Gauff has been edging closer to a win and in January she did reach the semi-final in Australia before losing to Aryna Sabalenka.

Now, she’s developing a winner’s mindset and she would appear desperate to get over the line and win a tournament on clay again in the coming weeks.
